Honey! Honey!!  We know honey is a sweet substance that is a good substitute for sugar. It has been used for thousands of years to make food and beverages sweet and also for medicinal purposes. Well, it can also be useful for caring for the skin.

Honey consists of antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, antiviral agents that can assist in ;-

 * Healing scars

 * Fighting acne and  eczema.

 * Exfoliating dead skin

 * Slowing down wrinkles.

DIY honey treatment you can make at home


Wrinkles

    - Mix honey and ginger

Ginger

    - Apply on the affected area and massage

   - Leave on for 20 mins

   - Then rinse off

Note:- Use daily until you get desired result.


Acne

   - Mix raw honey, coconut oil and a pinch of cinnamon 

Cinnamon

   - Apply on affected part

   - Leave for 5-10 mins

   - Remove with damp towel gently.

Note:- Use until desired result is gotten.


Blackhead

   - Apply raw honey

   - Leave on for 10 mins and rinse off.


Dead skin

Here honey is used to exfoliate the skin.

   - Heat the mixture of honey, sugar and little water in a microwave or on stove 

   - Apply the paste on desired area

   - Cover it with a towel for a few seconds to cool off for

   - Then strip off the paste in the opposite direction.

Note:- It's a way of waxing your body.


Eczema( redness, itchiness)

   - Heat honey for 15 sec until warm (not hot) 

   - Apply to the affected areas

   - Leave on for about 10-30 mins, then rinse off.


Dry and rough skin

Dry and rough skin


   - Apply honey on affected skin parts

   - Leave on for 10 mins and rinse off

Note:- You can mix essential oils like olive oil, jojoba oil.

You can also decide to mix honey with your body cream as it's a natural moisturizer and an anti-aging agent for the skin.



  Type of honey that works best

As you now know the benefits and uses of honey, you might ask which kind of honey to use.

Well, honey that has been filtered and processed would have lost some of the beneficial agents. So the best kind to use is the raw and pure honey.

Mind you, it's not cheap.


Summary

If you have allergies to bees, you should avoid using honey directly on your skin, except if prescribed by your doctor.

 Before applying it to your skin to treat the skin issues, apply a little on your skin to see it's reaction before applying a larger amount.

    1. Depends on the affected area or areas you want to put it.
      2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of water.
      You can use the measurements in doubles or more, like I said depending on the areas of the skin affected

    1. Yes it does, you can make tea with it, put like 2-3 tablespoon of it into warm cup of water. But you can also visit the doctor to assist in knowing how to use it or in case you have allergies.
